Mommy News for July 2007

So What Do YOU Want?

This newsletter is an opportunity to get to know each other and share our "mommy expertise". If you have any article ideas, ideas for activities either for the group; things for the family; or any general interest ideas, please feel free to forward them to me.

I'm looking for feedback and maybe some preliminary numbers for the following activities:

1. Supperworks - you prepare meals for your family that are easy to reheat at meal time. This would be an activity without kids.

2. Scrapbooking class - does anyone know of a local instructor? Would you want multi-week or one night class? I'm hoping to set this up for September/October.

3. Website design - I have never done a website from scratch so I could definatley use help from someone that has experience. If anyone would like to be involved in this, please let me know.

I'm also looking for anyone that is willing to put up posters in their neighbourhood for the group. I will supply the signs, if you're interested in getting your neighbours involved. In my neighbourhood, I put the signs up on all the super mail boxes. If you're interested just let me know how many signs you want!

If you're looking for a great website, please check out: www.toronto4babies.com. Our group is currently posted under "Playgroups in York Region". We are currently the only group listed, but hopefully, there will soon be other listings for Georgina. Thanks to Kim Edmiston for directing me to this site. It's fantastic!

Things to see and do

Summer is here and we're lucky enough to live close to Lake Simcoe. Make sure you get your parking pass at any of the local libraries to gain access to beach areas. There's no charge but you must present your driver's license and license plate number. If you haven't checked out our beaches yet you'll get a chance on July 31st for our beach day. Bring your lunch and plan to stay. There's a playground and shelter at De La Salle Park.

New in Keswick is the Farmer's Market every Sunday morning from 9am-2pm (Ice Palace parking lot). This is sure to be a great place to buy local produce all summer long.

if you're looking for something to do with older kids the Garden Bros. Circus is coming to Newmarket July 12-15. Check out all the details at www.gardenbrothers.com
